vessels that archaeologist found in iraq

Essay topics:

vessels that archaeologist found in iraq

The main idea of both the passage and the lecture is about the vessels that archaeologist found in Iraq and they thought this vessels that contained a copper cylinder surrounding an iron rod were ancient electric batteries. Considering this, the author claims that it is not likely that vessels were actually used as electric batteries in old times. The professor, on the other hand, categorically denies whatever mentioned in the passage through citing three reasons.

First, both the author and the professor talk about other facilities such as metal wires as an electricity conductor must be found where the vessels found. According to the passage, there is no evidence that any metal wires were located near the vessels. The lecturer, nevertheless, rejects the author's view and illustrates the idea that this vessels was found by archaeologist and it is possible that they neglect the other objects around the vessels and maybe some of them would be a metal wires.

Second of all, both the passage and the lecture discuss the issue of similarity between these vessels and the copper cylinders that discovered in the ruins of Seleucia. The passage goes on to mention that these cylinders were used for holding scrolls and not for generating electricity. Nonetheless, the lecturer supports a contradictory view as compared to that presented in the reading; she describes that although the cylinders that found in Seleucia were used for holding scrolls maybe some inventor in Iraq used this vessels in order to create electricity.

Eventually, the passage and the lecture both discuss usage of electricity in ancient society. The author of the reading passage states that they had no devices that replied on electricity, so they did not need batteries; however, the speaker refutes it, saying that ancient people used electricity to show some of them had a magical force or another use of electricity is for healing.
