The given diagram illustrates the major steps of converting wave energy into electricity by a specialized device and two possibilities of placing the given machine. Overall, it can be seen that the power is produced in 2 phases and the main drive of the process is the movement of the waves during the tide. Moreover, the cost and the yield may influence the area to be built in.
Looking at the details, the device consists of 2 chambers and a turbine placed inside the second chamber and being connected to a generator. The first chamber comprises water, whose levels rise when the wave moves towards it and imprints a pressure on the air from the upper part of this room. Next, the air moves into the second chamber and applies a rotational motion on the turbine and then escapes into the atmosphere.
The second major stage occurs when the water falls down and involves a reverse flow of the air. As a result of the turbine's spinning, electricity is produced by the generator.
Regarding the location of this machine, there are two options with their own advantages and disadvantages. While mounting it offshore, where large waves are available, is costly compared with a more coastal location, the former generates a higher output. Therefore, a careful decision must be taken, in terms of the most beneficial area for this apparatus.
