The greatness of individuals can be decided only by those who live after them, not by their contemporaries.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

Greatness is a subjective term. Greatness of one generation is different from another. Hence, greatness can only be evaluated from a futuristic perspective. The next generation are in a vantage point to judge the works of an individual by comparing them to the standards that have marked greatness in previous generations. A music...

What is the difference
What is the difference between this essay and this other essay - http://www.testbig.com/gmatgre-essays/scientists-and-other-researchers-…. They both had 4 paragraphs and almost the same number of spelling error but yet this got a 5 and the other a 6. I am just trying to discover what the difference is so that I can know what to exactly improve on.
The rating system is like
The rating system is like this:
Suppose mark A = Essay E-rater's mark
mark B = human grader's mark
the final mark = ( mark A + mark B )/ 2
For this essay:
final mark = (5.0 + 5.5 )/ 2 = 5.0 (we don't put 5.25)
for another essay:
http://www.testbig.com/gmatgre-essays/scientists-and-other-researchers-…
final mark = (6.0 + 6.0 )/ 2 = 6.0
When the mark reaches to 5.0, we look at following attributes a lot:

Another essay's attributes are much better than this essay.
This is how we did. We couldn't find a better way to judge an essay.
Your essay level is around 5.5. So it is possible for you to get marks from 5.0, 5.5 to 6.0, but it is really hard to discover something from two essays.

Okay cool. But for real are you guys telling me that you have human graders who look over these essays we submit. Honestly?? If so I am grateful to you all if that is the case and even if it is not the case I am still grateful to you guys for providing this avenue to at least have essays looked at or graded by some means. However, I just had a few questions. Is it after the essay gets above 5.0 by the e-rater grading that the human reader then looks into the N.o. of different words, fourth root, word length and so on? Also how does one score higher by e-rater standards. It appears that I scored higher by the human grader than I did by the e-rater grading. So how do I improve my chances with the e-rater. I know it likes 5 paragraphs but I was surprised when I had 4 paragraphs on the other essay and I still earned a 6. I just want to be better that all and perfect my strategy. Thank you so much.
Thank you too! And we really
Thank you too! And we really appreciate the great essays you submitted in testbig site.
Regarding human graders, you can read one of your essays and the comments:

If we don't have human graders, how can we figure out the content doesn't match the topic?
We couldn't tell you more on how we are doing at the back-ends, but our suggestion is: Don't need to please E-rater. Do whatever is good for the essay topic. Even you write essays in 6 paragraphs, still you can get 6.0 out of 6.
