Thus, there might be some advantages and disadvantages regarding the role of advertising. While some people claim advertising creates negative effects, others argue reserve. Therefore,this essay will be divided into three paragraphs. Firstly, it will discuss the advantages of advertising. Secondly, it will reveals the negative sides of advertising. Last, it will discusses some debates regarding the advertisements industry.
Advertising is a significant term in modern business, which provides certain information due to promote their products. Thus, there are some interesting facts backing up as an evidence. First of all, advertising inform us about the choices we have. Besides that, since advertising is a creative industry that employs many people, it is helping people to reduce the idleness by boarder the choices. Last, people are more likely to enjoy adverts, which is also considered as a form of modern art. Therefore, advertising is a key terms of modern business.
On the other hand, negatives sides of advertising do exist. The major issue is that advertising manipulates people. It aims to persuade people by making them believe that by consuming their products, it will make them better. Since branding is the necessary element, they tend to use glamorous and successful people as an icon. As we are living in a consumer culture, this method works effectively. For instances, people prone to follow the latest trend because they are more likely to related particular brand with outstanding social status. This habitual behaviour results in the increasing level of consumerism. Besides that, researches show that advertisers often aim their marketing at children. This can be explained by the theory of unconsciousness, where children are automatically influenced by advertisements. While children put pressure on their parents to buy that product, this might result in indirect persuasion between advertisements and the moneymaker.
On the other hand, regulations regarding the advertisement should be re-concerned. Firstly, advertising which is aimed at children should be controlled or even banned, as an example, unhealthy foods advertising should not be marketed in a way that easily attract children. Since health is considered as a vital aspect in existence, products that might influence in health condition should display warnings. It can be seen that cigarettes advertisements are prohibited in certain countries. Thus, it is important to display warnings in cigarette packets. However, while advertising is significantly important in free market economics. It is almost impossible to fully restrict advertisements, which might result in declining of the demand. Therefore, government should only censor false information or products, which are harmful to society.
In conclusion, advertisements play a significant role in the world today. There are some advantages regarding the advertising, which create certain benefits to the society. However, advertising also has some negative sides, which might affect consumers negatively. Therefore, The two important sides of advertising have been making these issues into a further debate.
