“Over the past year, our late-night news program has devoted increased time to national news and less time to weather and local news. During this time period, most of the complaints received from viewers were concerned with our station’s coverage of weather and local news. In addition, local businesses that used to advertise during our late-night news program have just canceled their advertising contracts with us. Therefore, in order to attract more viewers to the program and to avoid losing any further advertising revenues, we should restore the time devoted to weather and local news to its former level.”
Write a response in which you discuss what specific evidence would be needed in order to evaluate the argument and explain how the evidence would weaken or strengthen the argument.

It was stated that night-late news program has increased its devoted time to national news and less time to local and weather news which gave rise to complaint and loosing advert revenues by some local businesses. It is assumed that devoting time to weather and local news will attracts more viewers and generation of more revenues.
It can be inferred from the above argument that people showed interest in the late night news program because of the weather and local news. It might be that people plan their movement and businesses based on the weather conditons, and since they don't get the news from the program any longer they watch other program that give them weather forecast.
In contrast, the local business get more customers from the advert they make on the news program since they targetted their advert to viewers from the program. As there are less viewers on the program, their sales had dropped drastically. The customers who get information from the late-night programs they watch no longer get those information again as they already focus on another station/ program that will show them weather news.
In addition, the local businesses that advertise on the late-night program need to cancel their advertising contract with them and give the contract to the programs where there are large viewers so as to improve their sales too.
Finally, the late-night news program might attract new and more viewers and even loosing further advertising avenues if they restore the time devoted to weather and local news on the following basis: if the viewers has no alternative stations to watch their local and weathers new, or the businesses had not seal a new advertising contract with other programs, and at worst they are able to fund several advertisement by different programs.
