All too often, companies hire outside consultants to suggest ways for the company to operate more efficiently. If companies were to spend more time listening to their own employees, such consultants would be unnecessary.

The competition for companies in today's world is neck-tight. They need to come up with efficient solutions for survival and effective growth. Thus, companies need to do a lot of market research to be able to flourish and function at an optimum level. For this, they require someone with a thorough understanding of the market and the most effective ways to solve their problems. After all, any solution less than optimum will inevitably give birth to more issues. In such a scenario, a consultant from outside is the best bet. He has a thorough understanding of the market and has been trained for finding optimum solutions via his research. The solutions he provides will be with an outlook which is universal.

On the other hand, an employee working within the company, has a parochial outlook. He outlook is confined by his limited understanding and hence possess a limited cognition to provide effective solutions. Having said that, an employee of the company might understand the internal workings of his company than any outside consultant may. But this also means that the employee may be affected by bias due to problems he has endured. An employee may possess resentment against the company and may base his solution on a largely compromised and biased view.

We must also consider the fact that company does spend extra money on outside consultants. This money will be saved if the company listens to the their own employees. But at this point the question is "What is more vital for the company: saving money or flourishing and increasing profits?" Well, the company must flourish and expand in order to survive in the market. Increasing profits, afterall, is the primary motive of any company. A third party view seems to serve the purpose much better.

For a company to work at an optimum level and reach to its pinnacle, it is necessary to have the best, universal, and unbiased solutions. To address this, a outside consultant seems to be most appropriate solution.
