Many people believe that the major cities in a country are those which reflect the most important characteristics of the society in this country. They beleve that these major cities will help in studying the cultural traditions of the people in this society.
However, I believe that rural areas are thaose which must be of concern in study as long as we are concerned with customs and cultural traditions. The study of major cities can be helpful to know how modern is the country.
Most of the major cities in both advanced and developpong countries share the same decoration. They are crowded with cars, high buildings and all other recent luxury features. On the contrary, rural areas have the appearance which reflects much of the characteristics of the society.
For example, the English language is the main speaking language in many countriers. In major cities of almost all these countries, the accent used for English is the same. However, the accent will differ in rural area. Another language example if someone visits Egypt, he will find an Arabic langauge in the Upper Egypt which has different accent than that used in the capital (Cairo).
Another example is the attitude of the people in rural areas compared to that in major cities. In rural areas in Egypt, people return to home early ans spend more time with their family. On the other hand, in the capital they used to stay late outside home at night do not spend much time with their family.
As a conclusion, the stude of major cities reflects how modern the country is unlike the study of rural areas which reflects the real characteristics of the society.
