Essay topics:

All too often, companies hire outside consultants to suggest ways for the company to operate more efficiently. If companies were to spend more time listening to their own employees, such consultants would be unnecessary.

Managing and running an organization especially one that is expected to return a lot of profit can be a very difficult task. One of the many challenges that those in charge of managing these companies have to face is how to ameliorate efficiency. Companies would very often hire external consultants to suggest ways in which they increase efficiency, and this can be seen as a very wise decision if implemented properly.
One of the reasons why it is advisable to hire outside consultants is that they would tend to have an unbiased and objective view about decesions involving various departments of the company. The employees of the company, if tasked with this decesion, might not implement it as they already have a status quo, something that works and they might find it hard to want to change that. Afterall the old saying goes: If its not broken, don't try to fix it. However, an external consultant would look at things without much sentiment, and could identify faults that employees didn't even know existed. They could even take apart supposedly working systems and find ways to improve them. For example most employess who have been at a company for years and are used to a conventional method of taking daily attendance such as swiping their assigned ID cards would not see the need to seek better ways by which attendance can be captured because the swiping of ID cards works just fine. An external consultant however could notice that it takes up a lot of time, which could be used to carry out productive work, and could seek to implement a faster method secadfuch as thumbprinting.
Another reason why hiring external consultants may be better is that they are probably experts in the field with more experience working with multiple organizations. Employees at the company especially those who have been there for a long time would probably be instituitionalized. They do not know what life is outside that company. Everyday for the last decade or maybe even two, they drove to the same spot, sat at the same desk, observed the same protocols and probably ate the same lunch. To them anything other that this is alien. Anexternal consultant however has probably worked with other organizations with similar goals, they have seen other processes impkemented and they are better suited to make an comparison on which is more effecient. Moreover, they would probably have more specialty in that are as compared to an employee.
Although, employees of the company may be said to know their organization better and what effects and improved or diminished efficiency brings affects them directly so it may make sense that they would have some ideas on possible ways to improve efficiency. However, they would not do as good a job as an external unbiased expert which is what the company would be looking to get in a hired consultant.
Improvement and innovation are the most important things that would ensure competition and survival of any organization especially in these century and a lot of organization are looking to take advantage of ways in which they can stay relevant in the market. It wpould be wise if they were to invest in an external expert consultant sothey as to ensure that improve efficiency.
