The best way for a society to prepare its young people for leadership in government, industry, or other fields is by instilling in them a sense of cooperation, not competition.
The Prompt suggests that society should instill a sense of coorperation and not competition for preparing the younger generation for leadership roles in government, Industry and other fields. While, cooperation does play a role in progress, I would mostly disagree with that statement because of it's all or nothing approach and the way mordern society is structured.
In some Cases and some fields, Co-orperation can be very important for success. Sports can be a good example. For instance, in sports like basketball it is important for the players within a team to play as a single unit to bring the best possible result. The golden state warriors have been a prime example of how coorperation can prove out to important to win games and even championship. However, it is the competitive drive of the players to push themselves as individuals and as a team to always perform at the highest level and bring the best out of each other. Resarch shows that Competitive drive has actually been atrributed to the success of most sports teams .This competitive drive is what has seperated legends of the game from the other players. So while coorperation may have some role to play in the overall process but looking at the bigger picture it is the competitive spirit that has played a role in determining the success of that team or individual that cannot be undermined.
Further, because of the way the mordern society is structured, most mordern political systems witness intense competition among the candidates. For instance, in the national elections of india it is not uncommon for political leaders and candidates berating and denegrating their counterparts from the other competing political party. These political candidates do not shy away from critisizing each other to gain even a slight edge. This political competition can infact, sometimes prove to healthy for such a big democratic country by keeping the person in power in check, by making him think twice of the consequences of doin something non-constituional which would leave him open to the barrage of verbal attacks from the oppositons. If there was coorperation and venality in between the political parties instead, it would've opened the gates for non constitutional acts. This healthy competition has helped such a big democracy to flourish in the mordern world.
In conclusion, while coorperation may have a role in progress, it may not be wise to undermine the importance of instilling a sense of competition in the younger generation considering the way mordern society has been structured.
