College students should base their choice of
a field of study on the availability of jobs
in that field.
Write a response in which you discuss the
extent to which you agree or disagree with
the claim. In developing and supporting your
position, be sure to address the most
compelling reasons and/or examples that could
be used to challenge your position.
The author here wants to say that students
should choose the field in which there are
plenty of jobs,so that they dont remain
unemployed after the completion of the
courses as in present time the unemployment
ratio has increased drastically.Jobs are the
most important thing as it helps you get
settled in life. The statement made by author
cannot be supported here as if a student does
not have interest in a field how can he make
a future out of it,he wont be able to pursue
a successful career in that particular field
If a student will choose a field in which he
is not interested but would have plenty of
jobs he wont be able to study as does not
have interest in that particular field. If by
any chance he would complete his studies he
wont be able to pursue a job as he wontbe
dedicated to his job and wont be able to give
his best.Even if he gets a job he will be
facing a problem of excessive competition
around him and he has to perform his best
which he cannot as he does not have a
interest in that field and will be stucked in
between.
The author suggests to choose a field of
study in which there is job scope no job
availabilty would be permanent there would
always be a change in availabilty of jobs as
the time changes.Nowadays there are so many
new inventions going on that also further
creates a job so if choose a field that would
have job availabilty than it is not necessary
that the job would be still available. So you
cannot choose a field of study according to
the job availabilty, you should choose it
instead in your choice of field.
For exmaple if mark zukerburg, the ceo of facebook
would have thought that the computer science field
does not have a job and would choose a field of study
according to it we wont be using Facebook right now
,but instead he choose to go for a field in which he was
interested.so he work hard in the field of his expertise
and created the most successful social networking site.
So from this example it can be proved that chooseing a
field of your interest can not only create a job for yourself
but can create for others as well, but you need to work very
hard for it so that you can achieve the success.
So after discussing both the sides of the issue it can be
suggested that if you are good in any field try to work hard
in that field and pursue your goal by working hard. The
reason for choosing a field of study out of your interest
as it does not have a job could be wrong step as you are
cannot be sure that you can get a job in that field after the
studies as that job could not be available at that time.
