statement of purpose
The alarm rang! It was 4’o clock on a winter morning and I had to wake up to study for my exam that morning. Head was dizzy but I knew I had to wake up. 5 minutes I said to myself and I lay on the bed. Eyes barely open but, mind questioning why is this so hard? Can there be something like a machine that doesn’t turn off until I wake up from bed and start my work for the day? That was the moment I decided I am going to pursue my career in technology and try the “NEW”. I was in my 9th grade when this happened. Following this idea, I started reading feeds on technology every day and this inspired me more.
Gradually, after my 12th class I took up Engineering and was excited about where this path would take me. As a student of Sreenidhi institute of science and technology Gaksekar (Hyderabad), today I can say that the way I see things has changed. Our Professors have encouraged us in the field of our interest and helped us to work on academics and various projects. I am an Electronics and Computer engineer and Pursuing two core subjects was more of an excitement rather than a burden. Eventually, I started working on projects and learnt many interesting facts and technologies in the coarse.
Homomorphic encryption for Secure cloud computing was my recent and favorite project, on which I worked with 2 team members. The idea of the project was to show how storing and retrieving data from cloud happens. We uploaded various files and carried out encryption, decryption successful. However, one day, I was trying to upload various types of files like jpeg, html, doc and realized that the algorithm we used would take less time to encrypt and html file than a jpeg file. Then I used 3 different algorithms present in the market and tested the code. Then our project took a whole new turn and as an end result, we encrypted the files using all the three algorithms and also we were able to generate a graph to know the time efficiency for each type of file we encrypt. By the end we solved the time lag problem by using different algorithms for different file types.
Additionally, I have also worked on embedded projects like bi-directional visitor counter with 2 team members. This device helps to count the number of people entering and leaving the room. Using embedded C I carried out the programming part. This System can be used in malls, industries. Another fascinating topic for me in Artificial intelligence on which I gave a technical presentation at my college. I also presented topics like Fog computing and was appreciated by my professors.
I am passionate to learn, be a problem solver and contribute to India at some point. In this journey, I took part in a boot camp held by girls in tech at Indian school of Business(ISB) and pitched an idea about introducing technology to farmers. Every year many farmers lose their life with down-casted of the lost crop due to heavy rainfall or improper usage of pesticides. I worked with a team of 3 members and we created a business model about on this idea. Where we develop an application in regional language and also have customer care service by the government and researchers where the farmer can get information on which crop is suitable to a soil, what pesticides work best for their farm and also provide tested pesticides even at rural areas instead of the farmers travelling far distances. Additionally, the application would have weather report which would harbinger the farmer about the rain and he would take necessary precautions. The application would have an alarm that indicates about the sudden weather changes. With the help of growing cell phone towers all over the country these services can be provides to the farmers at their doorstep.
I am even enthusiastic about the applications that can be brought down for simple problems as there are some problems still unaddressed at advent of technology. How does someone get back their lost wallet? How does someone get back their lost pet? Many pets lose their home every single year and roam on the roads not knowing where to go and die out of starvation. For this purpose, we can use a location tracer. We have some location tracers in the market but, they are huge and too expensive for a common man to afford. With the help of internet of things(IOT) a small sim like chip can be used which will be connected to a phone application instead of an expensive location tracker. With the help of this application one can track their lost wallet or pet. One question that would rise is what if someone removes the chip from the pet’s belt? What if the dog is way far from your location? Now how do you trace the pet? The chip that is present in the dog belt can be connected to telecom towers of a particular service provider which are present all the country. Also, a lock using a key can be provided to these chips to ensure no one unlocks it. With India being a developing country, the ambition to introduce any many people to technology at a lower price product would help people.
Finally, the main reason behind applying to the scholarship at your prestigious company is to learn, to work, and contribute my part if given a chance. I would like to work at real time environment and apply the knowledge practically that I have being learning since 4 years before I pursue my graduation. I believe it is a great platform from innovation to product delivery. From creative cloud to illustrator. The kind of encouragement provides by abode is very fascinating and also showcase competition that is held since past years. I would love to get mentor ship from your great professionals that would help me know better, learn better.
