This statement is not true, as it could be illustrated through a set of evidences that are seriously challengng the statement validation.
for instance, the author can not assume that the available kinds of food and the way a nation preparing that food to be edible is a proper cultures' identification. perhaps nation of the same weather conditions and geographical conditions could experience the same available kind of crops for example some tropical fruits, however, these nations culture's could be opposing in wide vast range of differences. In addition, this investigation could be clearly represented by two nation of same food kinds and same foood that is adopted by two nation as a result of their interation through trading, while these two nations cultures are so much distinctive and maybe even speak a=two different lanuages.
