Essay topics:

Today it is clear that our increasing use of technology has caused more harm than good for mankind.

The years after 1995 has seen an unprecendented and exponential change in the lifestyle, culture and knowledge of the people. Almost all of this change can be attributed to the rise and improvement in technology and how it makes the world a smaller a place to live in. I mostly disagree with the claim that, technology today is hampering our human society. Some of the reasons are as follows.

Firstly, it is important to know, that we have successfully created a virtual close network of people that binds everyone together. Only a generation ago, most people waited in long lines near the telephone operator's window in their area for just one call. Today, we can see how the internet has brought people closer where our dear and loved ones are just a click of a button away. This interconnected network allows rapid spread of accurate information. For instance, one of the first Indian Nobel Prize winner, Ramanujan, left everything he had in India and travelled for 3 months on a ship to reach London to learn from the prestigious Cambridge University. His great work was known and studied by only few people who lived there. On the contrary, today we see his work easily available to us at the click of a button. Additionally, we see how people are learning at the comfort of their homes and still gaining the vast knowledge that the world has to offer. There is nothing that speaks of progress and development of the human society than the easy accessibility of information.

Speaking of learning from home, the presence of courses and online material from great institutions of the west allows students even from third world nations to learn, without much expenses on the infrastructure. All that they need is an internet connection and a handheld device. This allows us to give the opportunity to the people in these nations to see the light that the modern world shines in. For instance, the plea to release the girls and women held captive in Boko Haram were heard by the common people living in the six continents. And the world came together to fight for them.

Some might aver that technology causes young minds to be extremely dependent on machine intelligence and that leads man onto the path of devolution. However, we must realise how technology is allowing all children, regardless of their race, gender and disability to learn and grow. Ther are so many children found after the world war 2 era who have an IQ much higher than most smart scientists, like Einstein.

A world before the boon of technology was rotten by plaque, supression of the racially sexually different and people. Common people today have the liberty to voice out what they feel and have the power to bring change in the world. Technology has allowed us to generate universal societies and universal citizens who can take care of their brothers across the seven seas. We have finaly been able to achieve equality for all, and we cannot forget how technology has helped us achieve that. This all indicates how technology has done so much for us to improve the society not just for us, but also for the future citizens that will live in it.
