Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the nineteenth century. The map below shows the development of the village.

The given map illustrates the improvement of infrastructures that had been made in Chorleywood Village for more than a century from 1868 to 1994.
According to the picture, Only main roads, which lied from the southwest to the northeast and from the northwest to the southeast, had been built by 1868. At that year, the first small dwelling area were started to build near the vertical main road in the middle of the village. The next two year, the vertical motorway were made in the east village and made intersection with the horizontal main road.
In 1883, the larger houses area were constructed along the vertical main road next to the first dwelling area. It took almost 3 times of the time needed in finishing first area to complete the second construction. In the half period of construction, in 1909, long horizontal railway were made in the south village and passed the vertical main road and second building area.
The longest period of the development, 48 years, had been took place in the third construction stage. Again, the focus of construction was in the west area of the village which two large dwelling areas were built in the left and right side of second development area. The last development in this village just needed half of previous period time and succeeded to build 5 population area in East area. It is perhaps the construction process used the sophisticated technology.
To sum up, After over a 100-year period, the development had almost spread in Chorleywood Village, but only the northwest area was still quiet from villagers.
