More and more qualified people from poor to rich countries to fill vacancies in specialist areas like engineering, computing and medicine. Some people believe that by encouraging the movement of such people rich countries are stealing from poor countries. Others feel that this is only part of the natural movement of workers around the world.
- What is your opinion?
- Do you think rich countries should pay poorer countries for the people they encourage to come?
- What other measures could rich nations take to encourage qualified people to stay and help develop their own countries?
The immigration of talented people from poor to rich countries has been occurred for years due to a better life. It is considered, ironically, this encouragement towards this phenomenon in rich nations is illegal and immoral, though some believe that this is such kind of up-coming tendency under nature circle. This essay will present my point of view in this controversial issue.
To begin with, many economists argue that top-leading companies whose headquarters located in developed countries are definitely labor-thieves. As evidences, international recruitment programs from foreign companies attract thousands of talented people moving to a lucrative land in rich nations for working. However, thanks to that phenomenon, the unemployment rate in poor nations has decrease dramatically, hence improving living conditions for who work overseas. People will have more opportunities to adopt up-dated their knowledge scale, cultivate valuable experiences during their period of working abroad, then, they will come back their mother country to contribute their knowledge and skills to that nation’s development.
In the other hand, hardly do people ignore the law of attraction which influence strongly on this issue. So that many people believe that this movement is a natural fact. By no means do educated people not seek for their working opportunities related to major study due to human’s selfishness. So that the tendency of immigrating to places which nourish their career path would be a boom sooner or later. For instance, in the science front, US government brings favorable working environment and a lot of incentives for gifted people keen on science research. It is no reasons for overseas prominent scientists refuse that chance and come back to their root nations for work.
However, that phenomenon has some adverse effects to poor nations, especially the prevalence of brain drain. The more movement of qualified people is, the poorer that nation is. The imbalance among this society become serious, the discrimination between poor and rich people are larger than ever before. It is suggested that wealthy countries should accept a higher payment for overseas employments and apply some policies in which constraint the working time to individuals. In addition, affluent countries should support the poor ones by prompting its local companies pour their fund to run up their business in the poor countries, which open more windows for educated people to stay and improve their career in their mother countries.
In a word, the citizen’s movement for jobs is rife in today’s fast-paced life. Governments from both kinds of countries should co-operate together in order to bring the best working conditions for its residents, yet consider more for the development of poorer nations.
