The graph illustrates the proportion of population aged 65 and over in three differences countries, between 1940 and 2040.

It can be clearly seen that three countries, United State, Sweden, and Japan, have diverse trend from the past until next 2040. There are rarely stable during these periods.

Both USA and Sweden rose steadily in 20 years. America population went up by 10 percent after 9 percent in 1940, while Sweden by around 2 percent below USA. Moreover, in 1980, these two countries equally have a sharp increase by about 2-3 percent. Conversely, japan declined by two percent from 5 percent in 1960 and remained stable in 20 years after. In 2000, USA population was slowly decreased to 14 percent. Differently with Sweden, in the middle of year 1980-2000 USA has a decrease, but before entering 2000, it rose to 16 percent while Sweden increased by four percent.

In 2019 later, America is predicted to become stable and will goes up slowly in 2020. Also, it will sharply rise to 24 percent in 2040, whereas student is estimated to decline in 2020 and will rise again to 25 percent in 2040.

Interestingly, japan population will dramatically climb to 27 percent in 2040 from 10 percent 15 years before.

In short, japan has the highest population in 2040 later.
