Rather than welfare payments, some countries’ governments give unemployed people resources to help them find work, such as mobile phone, internet access and tidy clothes. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of scheme?

It is predicted that the government would lend a helping hand for whom are in poverty. Whilst, it is undoubtable that the country’s organisation would provide finances for the unemployed, other regions consider subsidising resources for instance, mobile device, internet connection or garments. In my opinion, although such plan can result in endless benefits, the drawbacks must be highlighted as well. Therefore, in this essay, I will further elaborate on this issue.

First and foremost, since aids are provided by the government, one will easily get employed. As a result of the availability of resources such as internet access, one could search for variety of vacancies online. In addition, remarkable impression is made with presentable clothing upon job interview session. On the other hand, whilst the employment rate rises, the crime rate will eventually decline. If one possesses a permanent job, their financial status will be stable with constant household income. Hence, they definitely would not commit crime to resource for money.

On the contrary, various disadvantages are seen with this scheme. Despite feeling blessed for being able to obtain assistance from the government, one might not appreciate the effort. Whilst continuously receiving welfare resources, one might not make the most of it and search for a job, thus exploiting the government’s funds. Similarly, the country’s organisation has to allocate a large sum of money to purchase such welfare items for the unemployed. Despite the scheme being proposed for a good purpose, the government tends to spend more to purchase such resources.

In a nutshell, this is clearly a complex issue and there are no easy answers to it. I believe that the government has good intention for implementing such scheme to help the unemployed. Whilst this scheme results in decrease of unemployment and crime rate, the drawbacks of this plan, including exploited resources and financial strain to one’s country must not be neglected.
