Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory part of high school programs (for example working for charity, improving the neigbourhood or teaching sports to younger children)

to what extent do you agree or disagree?

Volunteering activities always give many advantages for people who participate in it. Hence, some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory part of high school programs. from my perspective, I tend to agree that high school students take part in voluntary works which will offer them many benefits.

To start with, doing volunteering activities will teach students to be more aware with their neigbourhood and it is also the best way to making friends. Nowadays, students tend to be unsensitive with the circumstances around them. Advanced technology has led their personality becomes reclusive. Students prefer to live at home all day long and spend time with their gadgets than to do outdoor activities and communicate with other people. Therefore, it is important for students to be participated in charitable activities in order to develop their personality and to make friends with others

Another benefit is that volunteering offers many social skills which students need to become successful in adult life such as team work, communication skills, and time management skills. Then, voluntary work not only encourage students to do something creative but also increase students’ self-confidence. It also will be a valuable experience which can raise their employability.

To sum up, all above mentioned are the benefits that students will gain from unpaid community service. Thus, it is not an exaggeration that charitable activities should be a compulsory part of high school programs because it will give students many advantages in life.
