The table below gives information about changes in modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000.
Given is the table providing statistical information about the people’s preference in various types of travel in England, across 15 years. From an overall perspective, it can be noted that, the average distance traveled by all modes soared by 1,735 miles and the most popular type of vehicle was cars.
As will be observed, the most striking alterations relate to the usage of long distance buses and taxis which showed almost a threefold increase during the indicated period. In contrast, travelling on foot, on bicycles and on local buses lost popularity, to be more precise, declined by 18, 10 and 155 miles respectively.
As mentioned above, cars were the most preferred type of transportation and ranked the first in both years. Statics regarding the trains and other vehicles showed identical pattern, to be more specific, both figures slightly soared between 1985 and 2000.
All in all, travelling habits of English people has noticeably changed from 1985 and 2000.
