The table below shows the consumer durables (telephone, refrigerator, etc.) owned in Britain from 1972 to 1983.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.
The table demonstrates the change in the percentage of consumer durables owned in Britain between 1972 and 1983.
We can see that consumption of all 8 durables has increased over the given time. Some were owned by a high percentage of British people already back in 1972, while others were fewer but showed a larger growth during the 11 years.
In 1972, 93% of houses in Britain had televisions and 87% of them had vacuum cleaners, which went up to 98% and 95% by 1983. Refrigerators and washing machines weren't owned as many as televisions and vacuum cleaners (73% and 66%), but by 1983 both of their percentage increased and hit the maximum of 94% and 80% each.
Central heating and telephone were not as common (39% and 42%), but went through the biggest growth among all the durables and were 64% and 77% by the end of the given time. Video just started to be consumed in 1983 and was owned by 18% of British people, while the consumption of dishwasher started a few years back (1978), but was owned by only a small percentage (3 to 5%) during the 5 years.
