These days, it seems that an increasing number of people are leaving rural areas to live in the city.
Discuss some of the effects of rural depopulation and suggest some ways on which this trend could be reversed.
Improvements and developments in multiple areas especially in urban areas are having been observed currently. Subsequent comfort, due to these improvements, has never failed to attract people’s attention and provoke rural depopulation. This essay will elaborate on both positive and negative influences of this trend and offer some potential solutions.
Undeniably, convenience is predominantly considered as a major prerequisite when choosing a destination. As a result, people unarguably seek to relocate in new places where there are much more comfort and high standards of living. Subsequent impacts of this trend are unquestionably connected with economical and financial setbacks. For example, proliferation in the number of people will lead to proportional increase in unemployment rates and this might be following problem. As majority of population in cities are unemployed, increasing numbers of crime will ensue. Availability of workforce in countryside will plunge and rural agricultural industries will be undergoing ‘understaffed period’ and jeopardized simultaneously.
In order to look for solutions for the imbalance of inhabitants between rural and urban areas, one should not neglect the reason why people resettle into cities. To begin with, rural areas are required to improve and establish high standard local services namely, schools and medical centers, and permanent availability of primary supplies notably safe drinking water and electricity. Consequently, owing to equalization and existence of comfort and local services, which abound in suburbs, people will be dissuades against moving toward cities and will not be able to find proper reason for abandoning their native places.
In the light of these facts, one can conclude that relocation off the rural areas and resettling into cities are leading to high rates of crime and unemployment. Resolving these problems can be accomplished by increasing living standards and convenience in non-urban areas.
