These two charts below portray the information of marriage, divorce, and the marital status amongst American adults during 1970 - 2000.

First glance at the graph indicates that, the number of marriages deteriorated steadily and the divorces rate fluctuated within the given time span. The marriages number started with 2.5 million in 1970 and declined gradually until reached 2 million in 2000, while the highest divorce rate occurred in 1980 with approximately 1.5 million.

Moving to the second chart, it described that the largest percentage of marital status of adult Americans is Married for around 70% and 60% in 1970 and 2000 respectively, followed by Never Married status with 10-20%.
