The bar charts below illustrate data regarding the difference between the number of the marriage and divorces from 1970 to 2000 and also the condition of adults in the USA in the year 1970 and 2000.
According to the first chart, it is manifest that the number of marriages was at its peak during two year (1970 and 1980) and had a steady rate. On the other hand, it pursued a downward trend from 1980 onward and stood on 2 million in 2000.
When it comes to divorces, the number of divorces was the same during three years (1970, 1990 and 2000) by 1 millions except 1980 that solely accounted for near 1.5 million.
The second bar charts distinctively manifest that the proportion of married adults were the dominated status of the Americans community during 1970 and 2000 by 70 and almost 60 percent. Widowed adults slightly dropped from 1970 ( 8 percent) to 2000 (7 percent), while the level of divorced individuals doubled approximately the same years and from 1 percentage reached to almost 10 percent. Interestingly enough, those who were not fond of marriage had an insignificant growth and demonstrated 20 percent near two times of divorces rate.
To sum up, it is noticeable that during these three decades marriages were immensely prevalent among USA adults compared to divorces. Not only was the percentage of adults in 1970 so high, the rate of it was proportionally significant in the 2000.
