The diagrams below show the changes that have taken place at Queen Mary Hospital since its construction in 1960.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram shows Queen Mary Hospital at three different stages in its development, in 1960, in 1980 and 2000.
In 1960, at the first stage of its development, the hospital was built next to the main road and close to the shopping centre. The area right behind of the hospital has turned into a car park while the area behind the shopping centre was farmland.
In 1980, the shopping centre has been demolished in order to make a way for two additional hospital buildings, which became a pharmacy and a cancer centre. Furthermore, the farmland has become the nursing school.
In 2000, the main building of hospital and pharmacy remained unchanged whereas the cancer centre has enlarged in size to devour up the area of nursing school area. As a result, the size of both car park and nursing school has decreased as the nursing school and car park became shared the area.
During this period, the size of hospital has increased in size, in addition a new nursing school and a cancer centre has been created and extended. Therefore, the capacity of car park has reduced in half.
