In 1981, 40% of the school budget went on teachers; salaries. This figure rose to 50% in 1991, but fell again by 45% in 2001. Other workers salaries which accounted for more than a quarter in 1981 at 28% steadily fell to 22% in 1991 and 15% in 2001.
The budget for resources such as books declined from 20% in 1981 to 15% in 1991 and fell again at 9% in 2001. On the other hand the expenditure of insurance has reached from 2% in 1981 to 3% in 1991and it has risen in 2001 up to 8%. The budget of furniture and equipment which was 15% in 1981 dramatically fell at 5% in 1991 and increased up to 23% in 2001.
To sum up, based on these three pie charts we could see the downward and upward of the trends for different expenses by a UK school in three decades.
