The given bar chart illustrates the number of vehicles owned per thousand of people on China from 1987 to 1999. At the first glance, it is obvious that there was a significant increase in the amount of vehicles over the years.
As can be seen, starting from the year of 1987, the number of vehicles possessed by Chinese were only below 500 per thousand people. However, that figure increased sharply over the period. By the year of 1993 the total vehicles recorded in China rose gradually to nearly 1000 units per thousand people, followed by a jump to 2000 units per thousand people in the next two years. The data continued to grow speedily by a third to 3000 vehicles per thousand of people in 1997. For the last couple of years, the quantity of transportation means in China maintain its upward trend and reached to over 4000 items in 1999.
In conclusion, during 8 years of the sample period, the total of transportation means reported in China indicates a considerable growth from 1987 to 1999.
