The given bar graph depicts the proportion of Australian male and female involving in doing exercise frequently in 2010 across six different age groups from 15 to over 65 years old. At the first glance, it is obvious that except for 15-24 age group, in comparison with men at the same age, the percentage of women engaging in physical activity was relatively higher.
As can be seen, Australian male were most keen on exercise activity at the age of 15-24, accounting for 52.8%. The figures gradually decreased as male entered middle-age, marking 42.2% and 39.5% respectively for 25-34 and 35-44 age groups. However, men were more interested in playing sports when getting older, with a slightly rise up to 46.7% at the age of 65 and over.
Regarding women’s ratios, it is clear that female who participate in physical activity most belonged to 45-54 age group, at 53.3% in total. Moreover, women at the young age from 15 to 24 were much less enthusiastic about doing exercise, compared with other age groups and men at the same age, reported at 47.7%. As Australian women reached the age of 65 and over, the rate dropped to 47.1%, which was nearly equal to that for male.
