The given bar chart indicates various particular university subjects which were selected to study by undergraduates in the year 2005.
Overall, it is obvious that sciences and math were the most popular subjects with male students. By contrast, non-sciences subjects, namely social sciences and languages were the most common subjects with female students.
The number of male students choosing sciences and math to study was the highest, at over 20 thousand and about 18 thousand students, while those subjects chosen by only nearly 10 and 5 thousand female students respectively. However, female students choosing social sciences, languages and arts accounted for the highest figures, at around 20 thousand,18 thousand and 10 thousand students respectively.
More male students than female students chose literature to study, 15 thousand compared to above 10 thousand students. In addition, law selected by the number of male students was a half higher than the figure for female students, 10 thousand compared to 5 thousand students. Both male and female students had the similar figure for selecting humanities to study, at over 10 thousand students.
