The bar chart illustrated how five significant types of transport in the UK are used to travel in the ten-year period from 1990 to 2000.
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the total of passenger kilometers started at 110 billion and experienced an increase by around 10 billion over the decade in question. While the growth was evident in the rail, bus and air travel, the quantity of UK residents using bicycle and motorbike, however, showed a slight decline.
Looking at the details, the statistics for bus and train travel were similar, approximately 50 million kilometers for each in 2000. These two types of vehicles took the dominant places with the kilometers number recorded over five times more than air travel in the next position. The proportion of distance travel by bicycle and motorbike, which had the same figure as air travel, was of low importance, with less than 8 million UK inhabitants choose them to travel.
