The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.
The graph gives information about the ratio of males and females in various age categories who did physical exercises regularly. In 2010, the overall percentage of all Australian men and women who did physical activity frequently was around 50%. Middle aged females between 45 and 54 were the most physically active, while the males aged 35 to 44 did the least physical activity.
Between the ages of 15 and 44, the number of man who did physical exercise frequently decreased significantly as opposed to the growth of figures for women. In which, the youngest age category from 15 to 24, 52.8% of Australian men compared to 47.7% of women did physical activity. In the age range from 25 to 44, the proportion of males did regular exercises declined from 42.2% to 39.5%, in contrast to the data of women rose from 48.9% to 52.5%.
Between the age of 45 and 64, the figure for male physical activity grew 5.5% to 45.1%, while the rate of females decreased gradually but still remained higher than that for males at 53%. Women aged 65 and over were much less physically active, making the percentages of males and females almost identical.
