The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010
The diagram provides us information about the proportion of Australian people of various age groups and sexes who engaged in physical exercises regularly in 2010.
In summary, it could be mentioned that women were more active in doing sport over this period. Besides, the highest rate of activity among men was noticed among males aged 15 to 24, whereas women who were from 45 to 54 years old did physical exercises the most. Also, it should not be neglected that levels of physical activity among pensioners of both sexes are almost the same.
As far as women are concerned, the number of people interested in physical activity rose with their age. Starting from approximately 48% for the age group 15 to 24, the figure experienced a significant rise going through older generations, to reach a peak of 53.3% among females who were in their middle ages in 2010. However, this upward trend was broken, as the proportion fell by 0.3% and 6.2% for the 55 to 64 and over 65 age groups respectively.
Regarding males, this appears to reflect the women proportion conversely. The biggest popularity of sport was marked among individuals aged 15 to 24 accounting for 52.8%. However, the representatives of next age groups (from 25 to 34, from 35 to 44 and from 45 to 54) showed less involvement in physical activity, as the figure did not exceed a level of 43%. Surprisingly, more people of older ages were engaged in sport (45.1% and 46.7% for next age categories).
