The chart compares the proportions of British males and females in six different reasons for their Internet using in 2001.
It is clear from the graph that Email was the main reason why British adults used the Internet. Additionally, games were more popular among males, and females tend to used the Internet for health research or commercial consumer.
It is interesting to note that while almost 40% of men played games online, only 20% of women had the same purpose. By contrast, commercial consumer was cited by 60% of women, compared to only 40% of men. At the same time, there were 40% of women used the Internet to conduct research about health care but approximately 20% of the other sex did the same thing.
On the orher hand, nearly every users in both sexes sending mail online in 2001. In addition, the figures for banking and commercial vendor were almost identical among men and women, at 40% and 20% respectively.
