The bar chart below shows shares of expenditures for five major categories in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan in the year 2009.

Bar Chart

The bar chart compares the percentages of people using money for five different items in four nations in the year 2009.
Overall, Japanese people used most of their money in food, while the others preferred to use money in furniture.
On the other hand, in Japan, food had the highest proportion of money, at about 25%, followed by housing, at over 20%. While, American, Canadian and English people spent their money in housing, at over 25%, over 20% and about 25% respectively. However, American and Canadian also spent high percentages of expenditures in transportation. People lived in England spent 20% of money in food.
On the other hand, English used the shortest proportion of money in health care, which was more than 0%. Also, Canadian used about 5% of money in health care. By contrast, the figure for clothing was lowest in United States, at more than 5%. Japanese people used the shortest proportion of expenditures also in health care and clothing, at about 5% that of those specific.
