The bar chart elucidates the gross domestic product generated from the IT and Service industry in UK from 1992 to 2000.
It is observed from the graph that both industries increased as a percentage of GDP over the projected period, but IT rose at a higher rate than those of service industry.
At the beginning of the period, the service industry accounted for 4 percent of GDP while at just over 6% for IT industry. Over the next years, the levels became more similar, with both components standing between 6 and 8 per cent. However, over the following years, the patterns of the two components were noticeably different. Between 1998 and 2000, there was a significant increase for IT industry whereas the service industry grew at a steady rate. The percentage of GDP for IT industry reached from 12 to over 14 percent compared to just one percent increase to reach at 8 percent for the service industry.
At the end of the period, the percentage of GDP from IT was almost twice that of the Service Industry.
