The bar chart compares the percentage of males and females achieving different qualifications in Wales in 2001/2002.
Overall, most of GCSE grade A+ to C certificates were gained by women, whereas more men attained GCE A level or other degrees.
For women, nearly 30% of them achieving grade A+ to C in GCSE level while only under 20% of men gained it. The same pattern can be seen for higher education when approximately 10% of degrees were women’s and the percentage was higher than men’s. However, about 25% of females did not qualify any kinds of education, in comparison with the percentage of 20% of males.
For men, they tended to be better than women at GCE A level with the proportion of almost 30% meanwhile the percentage for women was merely 15%. In addition, over 10% of them were awarded a degree or equivalent. It was also true for achieving other certificates with the same proportion as the aforementioned category
