When it comes to the marriage rates, the USA had the maximum number in both 1981 and 1994 despite a sharp drecrease from 11 to 8 people per thousand after 15 years. In other countries including the UK, Japan, Findland, Germany, France and Italy, about 7 out of 1000 citizens got married in 1981. These figures dropped slightly to around 5-6 in 1994. Denmark is the only nation whose marriage percentage has risen over 15-year period, with an increase from 5 to 7.
Regarding to divorce statistics, the USA also had the highest rate of married couples who separated. In 1881, this number was above 5 per thousand. Fortunately, it fell slightly to 4.5 in 1994. Denmark saw the same trend. Its number reduced gently by about 0.1 across the period. The UK, Japan, Findland and France showed relatively similar trajectories, with a rise by around 1after 15 years. In all 8 countries, Italy reported the lowest rate of divorce, even when its figures doubled in 1994.
