The bar chart illustrates how the share prices of Facebook, Google, Apple, and Yahoo changed over the period from 2011 to 2016.
Overall, Apple’s stock price showed the largest variation throughout the time period, while the figures of Google remained stable at the lowest value compared to the others. Furthermore, the share value of Yahoo witnessed a gradual decline whilst Facebook’s stock price increased significantly over the period given.
In 2011, Facebook’s share valued at around 7,500, which was equal to Yahoo’s stock value. It then increased consistently over the next 5 years to just under 20,000 in 2016 and became the most expensive stock in the market at that time. In contrast, the stock price of Yahoo saw a considerable decrease from just over 6,000 in 2011 to just under 2,500 in 2016.
Meanwhile, Apple’s stock price started off at just under 5,000 at the beginning of the period, rocketed to more than 33,000 in the next year, then dropped sharply to approximately 6,000 in 2013 before fluctuated between roughly 12,000 in 2014 and 6,000 in 2016. Particularly, Google’s share value stayed at the same value at approximately 500 over the entire period, and it was the cheapest stock among the others.
