CAMBRIDGE 13 TEST 1 WRITING TASK 1
The map below shows the road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

The map illustrates the infrastructure improvements that allow easier access to the city hospital in 2010 in comparison with 2007.

It is clear that the main layout of the hospital access was largely unchanged. However, the road infrastructure was significantly upgraded among which the most notable changes were the roundabouts, the bus station and the car park arrangements.

Overall the layout of the city hospital remained the same, with the main access at its South side. The junctions of the Hospital Road with Ring Road and City Road were changed from cross to roundabouts.

The bus stops that aligned the two sides of the Hospital Road were turned into a large bus station to the West side of the road, with access to the two newly constructed roundabouts.

In 2007, there was only one car park shared by staff and the public at the East side of the road. In 2010, the originally shared car park only allowed staff to park cars there, while a public car park was established to the East side of the hospital.

The two maps manifest a comparison on the road access to a city hospital in the respective years of 2007 and 2010.

Overall, we observe a proper and systematic arrangement and maintenance of the road access to the city hospital in 2010 as compared to 2007, which didn’t have many facilities then.

To begin with, in 2007 there were many small bus stops that would facilitate travel. Although there were many instances of bus stops, there a lot of time is consumed to travel from one bus stop to another. In contrast, there is a creation of a whole bus station in the year 2010, which alleviated the need to travel from one stop to another. Secondly, there is no categorization for public and staff parking, which is ameliorated in the year 2010. Thirdly, there is an amalgamation of traffic near the city road, which is a result of no provision of any roundabouts. However, in the year 2010, there is a creation of divider, which proscribed the accumulation of traffic.
