The given bar chart depicts the weekly income metrics by the families residing in a country for the years 1968 and 2018. This is represented in terms of percentage.
Overall, the major spending is observed in food back in 1968, while this trend has changed after 5 decades.
In the year 2018, people spent more than 20 percent of their money on leisure activities, thus making it to the top. Additionally, the food which occupied about 35% of the total expenditure in 1968 has fallen to 17% later. Likewise, the expenses on fuel and power has also seen a dip by a factor of approximately 4%. While the housing has seen a rise from 10% to a good 18%. Surprisingly, the funds for household goods have remained stagnant.
The transport, personal and household goods all stand at same nearly 8% in 1968. Although, in 2018 there is a decline in pay out for personal goods, on the other hand there is increase in transport reaching nearly 14%. The share of amount of spent on clothing and footwear has halved from 1968 to 2018. Moreover, the spending has almost tripled on leisure activities going from 8 to 23 percent.
