The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status.
The bar chart compares how much leisure time was enjoyed by males and females of five categories of employment status enjoyed their leisure time weekly in 1998-1999.
It is clear from the bar chart that males who were employed full time, unemployed and retired enjoyed more free time than females in these categories. Additionally, in two categories only figures for women were shown employed part time and housewives.
In term of the full time employed, men had more leisure time than women, with 50 hours per week compare to 39 hours for women. While unemployed and retired people of both genders enjoyed most hours of leisure. The unemployed had 85 hours of free time per week, the same figure as retired men. The figure for both of these women categories was 75 hours.
Housewives enjoyed 50 hours of leisure, a little more than women who were employed part-time, with 40 leisure hours each week. There were no figures shown for men in either of these categories.
