The bar chart compares the number of men and women in further education in Britain in three periods whether they were studying full-time or part-time. Units were measured in thousands.
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that both the majority of men and women students preferred to study full-time education instead of part-time.
Looking at the details, in 1970/71, the figure for full-time was leader in both sexes with 1000 males and just under 600 females. The number of people who tended to study part-time among males and females was a small proportion, with 100 and 50 respectively. In 1980/81, the situation changed oppositely in the number of men while the figure for females witnessed a slight increase. In 1990/91, the number of female students who studied full time reached its peak at approximately 1100 students. The proportion of part-time students increased slightly in 20 years period, from 1970 to 1990, and saw its highest level in 1990 in both sexes with around 200 people.
