Overall, what stands out from the graph is that although there are some fluctuations, the amount of money which was spent on books is increased in all four countries.
Looking at the details, as regard as Germany, the money started at 80 millions dollars, and then fluctuated over the following 10 years period. However, in 2005, it reached its peak at approximately 95 million dollars. If we look at France, the figure went up gradually over the whole period and finished at about 75 million dollars in 2005. In Italy, the amount of money which was spent on books followed similar trend with Germany, fluctuated from 1995 to 2005, and ended with 60 million dollars in 2005. By contrast, although Austria started with the lowest amount of money, they witnessed a sharp increase from 1995 to 1999, and then it levelled of at 40 million dollars for 2 years. Subsequently, the number rose rapidly from 2001 to 2005, rocketing to 70 million dollars in 2005.
