The chart below shows a number of men and women in further education in Britain in three period and whether studying part-time or full time.
The bar graph illustrates how many men and women were enrolled in post- graduate education in the UK for the year 1970 to 1990.
Overall, most university graduates in both gender preferred to continue their further studies on a part-time basis.
Male students have the highest number of part-time further studies in 1970 reaching about one million. It suddenly fell in 1980 by almost 200,000 and increased gradually to nearly 900,000 at the end of 1990. On the other hand, those who took it in full time made a steady upward trend to more over 200,000 in 1990.
Female students recorded a remarkable increased from 700,000 in part-time post studies in 1970, it boosts rapidly until it jumped to an all-time highest number of more than 1,100,000 at the end of 1990. However, women in full time post education have the lowest number of enrollees in 1970 of just over 50,000. It moved up to 200,000 in 1980 before it remained steady at nearly over 210,000 which is almost in parallel level with male students in full-time education.
