The bar graph provides information about the number of incidents and injuries every 100 million passenger miles travelled of five means of transportation in 2002.

In general, over half of the incidents resulted in physical damages. Demand response stood out among the five transportation types with far more incidents and injuries than the others.

The graph indicated that demand response held the first place in the number of incidents with 250 per 100 PMT, followed by light rail and bus, both standing at approximately 80 per 100 million PMT. Heavy rail and commuter rail were slightly safer than light rail and bus, with the former witnessing 50 incidents per 100 million PMT and the latter experiencing just as half.

In terms of injuries, demand response still surpassed the rest by a large margin. Bus and commuter rail users were also more injury-prone than the remaining two, with over three quarters of the accidents culminating in damages. Heavy rail caused about 40 injuries per 100 million PMT and although light rail had the second most incidents, only half of them resulted in injuries.
