The bar chart reveals the proportion of males and females in Australia who participated in regular exercise division by age in 2010. At first glance, the men aged 15 to 24 and women aged 45 to 54 took the most part in physical activities. Conversely, men between the ages of 35 and 44 and the 65-plus women age group seemed to be less involved in exercise.
As can be seen, in the age groups 15 to 24, about 53% of men did regular exercise compared to approximately half of women. This was the age at which most men exercise. By contrast, the age group over 65 was when both males and females were less likely to participate in physical exercise; in addition, the proportion of both genders was under half.
In comparison, there were three age groups in which women joined in physical exercise more than men. While nearly half of women took part in regular exercise, the percentage of men was considerably lower ( around 42% ). With regard to the 35 to 44 age group, the proportion of females participating in physical exercise far exceeds that of males (approximately 53% and 40% respectively ). Similarly, the ratio of women was more than half as opposed to just over 45% of men.
