Essay topics:

the chart shows British emigration to selected destinations between 2004 and 2007.

The chart illustrates how British residents immigrated to five different nations from 2004 and 2007.

Overall, there was an increase in the number of British people choosing Australia as their destination, while decreases were seen in other countries. In addition, the data for Australia was always the highest in the five countries examined

Looking first at Australia and the USA, the number of British emigrated to Australia started at 42 thousand, followed by a small decrease in one year later. Before dropping to 44 thousand in the final year, it rose sharply to reach a peak at 52 thousands in 2006. A same trend, but with smaller extents, was seen in the migration from England to the USA. 24 thousand of British citizens immigrated to the USA in the first year, after which this data fluctuated subsequently, ending at 20 thousand in 2007. This figure for 2004 was almost similar to the figure for 2006.

Between 2005 and 2007, emigration from England to Spain, New Zealand and France had the same trend, decreasing steadily until the end of the period. There were 24 thousand British residents who came to New Zealand, which was as many as the US and France in the same year, and then this data fell gradually to 20 thousand in 2007. However, the figure for France spiked to reach a peak at 34 thousand in just one year, after plummeting from 2005 onwards. In the former half of the period, the number of British emigrated to Spain remained nearly unchanged at 34 thousand, whereas similar to Spain in that year.
