A glance at the charts reveals that in most household duties, women are responsible for larger amount of work than men, except for gardening, pet care and maintenance odd jobs. Females spend most of their time cooking, baking and washing up, while gardening and petcare makes the most of males’ time.
As presented in the charts, women spend 74 minutes cooking, baking and washing up everyday, while it only takes men 30 minutes. The second largest amount of work of females is cleaning and house tidying, which takes them nearly an hour per day, whereas males spend only 13 minutes on this task. In the children caring and playing sector, the amount of time women spend overtakes that of men with 45 minutes and 20 minutes respectively. While clothes, washing, ironing and sewing takes females 25 minutes on a daily basis, the amount of time males spend on this task is only 2 minutes.
A different picture can be seen in the gardening and petcare sector, where the amount of duty of men overtakes that of women, with 49.5 minutes and 21 minutes respectively. Similarly, males spend 25 minutes on maintenance odd jobs while females spend under 10 minutes on this duty.
