The three pie charts illustrate average proportions of different types of nutrients in typical meals that can be unhealthy if consumed excessively.
In general, both sodium and saturated fat are mostly consumed at dinner, while being eaten the least at breakfast. In addition, it seems that people have added sugar mostly in snacks.
To begin with, the percentages in typical meals that consume sodium and saturated fat are quite similar. In particular, Americans consume these types of nutrients the most during dinner, with 43% for sodium and 37% for saturated fat. By contrast, the figure for sodium consumption is only around 14% in snacks time or at breakfast, while that of saturated fat is also consumed the least at breakfast, with just about 16%.
Furthermore, nearly half of the proportions of added sugar consumption is during snack hours, at around 42%. Similar to the two other nutrients, added sugar is also eaten the least in the morning at breakfast, Finally, the percentages for lunch and dinner meals that contain sugar are 19% and 23% respectively.
