The three given charts illustrate how Australian graduates chose to do instantly after leaving secondary school from 1980 to 2000.

Overall, throughout the twenty-year period, more secondary graduates in Australia were employed while fewer students chose to chase further education. At the same time, the unemployment rate was the lowest and tended to decrease.

From 1980 to 2000, commencing from 40 per cent as the second-highest proportion, the employment rate then rose 15 per cent in 2000, which accounted for the highest rate.

By contrast, throughout the period, fewer Australian secondary students committed a further education. That made the rate started from 50% in 1980 which accounted for the highest percentage, then, followed by a plunge to 37% in 2000. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate was always the lowest proportion, which was 10% in 1980, slightly increased only 2 per cent in 1990 and finally dropped to 8 per cent in 2000.
