The charts below show information about honey-bee colonies and honey production in the US. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and makes comparisons where relevant.

The line charts compare information about the number of honey–bee colonies in the United States, and the amount of honey they produced between 1970 and 2010.

Generally, there is no exact relation between the number of bee colonies and production of honey in US. For example from 1970 to 1980, while the numbers of bee colonies increased gradually, the amount of honey production fell steadily.

In 1970 the United States has had 4.000.000 million colonies of bee. From 1970 to 1980, the figure of bee colonies slightly went up from 4.000.000 to around 4.200.000 million. However, since then this number decreased each year till reached just under 1.800.000 colonies in 2010.

During the same period, there were 130.000 tons of honey were produced in the United States in 1970. This amount dropped to approximately 110.000 tons in 1980 and then rose to 120.000 tons in 1990. However, from 1990 the amount of honey in the United States significantly decreased each year to just 70.000 tons honey in 2010.
